Dorsey Emmetts is a developing club and has been in operation in its current form for almost six years. The club is based in the small rural area of South Armagh in the parish of Lower Creggan. Dorsey itself is a small Hamlet of less than a dozen houses, a small church and a community centre, there is however a larger outlying rural area to Dorsey of approximately fifty homes and it is this rural life that is at the heart of Dorsey.
In 1999 Dorsey Emmetts was reformed after forty-four years, at the first meeting to discuss the possible reformation over 100 people packed a small community centre to listen to the notion of a Dorsey Emmetts team playing in Dorsey once again.
In 2003 Dorsey Emmetts took on with their most ambitious project and that was the fundraising for their own pitch. At this stage Dorsey where growing every year despite being surrounded by much more successful and indeed bigger clubs. When the first estimate was reached it was almost a quarter of a million pounds. To put that into perspective if every single member at the time young and old had donated one thousand pounds we would still have had a shortfall of over one hundred thousand ponds. The committee decided to begin a series of motivated fund raising events.
On the 15th of April Dorsey played their first league game in Rory McGee park against local rivals Forkhill. The field was named in honour of Rory McGee who was the first Club Secretary and was pivotal in the survival of the club in those first days, Rory died suddenly in his mid-twenties before the completion of the Cub grounds
