 • Founded in 1969 to promote Gaelic football and Irish culture in the New City of Craigavon.

• 1st Meeting was held in a wooden hut in Moylinn which was used for both a post office mid-week and church on Sunday. 8 people attended the first meeting.

• By 1970 there were 6 estates built and Eire Og’s membership and teams grew with the newly developed area. In 1970 we entered the Armagh all County Leagues and with 2 new primary schools began to field a team and U12 and U14 in the N Armagh league.

• 1974 seen the formation of a ladies sub-committee at Eire Og and the first Camogie team in the club was formed. Teams were fielded in Armagh Senior Camogie league and in both U11 and U13 leagues.

• Throughout this period seen Eire Og flourish from right to this day in the Scor which was set up in this period.

• It was during the 1980’s that the club took off and although it was a tumultuous time in Ireland’s recent history Eire Og started to move up the Divisions and in 1985 had its first championship success winning the Junior Championship.

• This sense of achievement culminated in 2000 with the first Intermediate Championship trophy to arrive back in Craigavon with a 1 point victory over Collegeland at the Athletic Grounds, Armagh City.

• Eire Og GFC have a rich history in providing its players to represent at County Level. Our home grown players of Damian Horisk, Terence O’Hagan and Darragh Edwards represented Armagh but pride of place has to go to Ger Reid who brought the first All-Ireland medal and Sam Maguire back to Craigavon in 2002.
