Armagh Hurling Initiative: ‘Coaching the Coaches’ 2010

Following on from the inarguable success of the ‘Coaching the Coaches’ initiative in 2009 -with almost 400 coaches attending the five courses - the Armagh Hurling Board is organising a similar programme for 2010.
The first of the five 2010 'Coaching the Coaches' sessions takes place on Wednesday 10th Feb 2010 in St. Catherine's College, Armagh. (Please enter the College via the Callanbridge entrance) Registration for this course takes place @ 7pm with the course commencing @ 7.30pm. Please find attached a poster detailing all the courses.
The tutors for this year’s programme include Tipperary men Pat O’Halloran (Kildalkey) and National Director for Hurling Paudie Butler; Armagh Strength and Conditioning Coach Mike McGurn; two of Ulster’s Regional Hurling Development Officers – Michael McCullough and Rónán McWilliams - whilst also featuring a new Hurling Coaching Clinic on Saturday 3rd April with former All-Stars and current Leinster Council coaches George O’Connor (Wexford) and Pat Critchley (Laois).
The sessions are ‘free of charge’ and there will be no pressure on any coach attending with regard to the practical activities, as young hurlers from local clubs within the county will undertake all the hurling activity during the practical sessions. Our overall aim is to increase the knowledge and coaching ability of ‘club coaches’ in a relaxed coaching environment.
Detailed handouts will be provided by the tutors for all sessions. Each course will also be videoed and all clubs that are represented at a given session will receive a free DVD of that particular session.
