Clarke gave one of the Championship's best performances at the weekend.
He did but was that not his only massive performance? He would have to have a massive semi-final and final to be player of the year. IMO he wouldn't be in the top 10. The player of the year should have excellent performances throughout not one or two. Clarke certainly hasn't had a string of great performances. Doyle, Brogan, Kavanagh- those lads have.
He's nowhere near my POTY, just someone said he has been overrated when he has been quite good throughout and brilliant in his first Championsip outing on Croke Park.
Coulter has been better this year, and possibly the two midfielders, but these awards are always based on the last three games, it could be his year. Hopefully not.
As someone who bets quite a lot (far too much !!) I was interested in AFS@ post re PP betting - I would agree with Stevie06 - if the POTY was being decided today you could absolutely and without thinking twice put your house on Bernard Brogan - he's been more consistent than Doyle or Clarke and there's a very strong argument that he won at least 2 games on his own. However I'll not be betting now cos there's 3 very big games to come and big performances from anyone in that betting list would change everything.
YPOTY - Again if it was deceided right now Donie Shine wud certainly be clear cut favourite simply because he def carried Roscommon through on his own - but Clarke and O'Carroll have a semi and a possible final to come !!
