Good luck to Armagh this weekend. Any word on clubs who have dual players having to play their games?
no matter which great player we think of they all started their careers at a club - the club is the cornerstone of the GAA foundation - lets keep it that way

    well done to the hurlers.

    Armagh 3-20
    Tyrone 2-9

Full-forward Brian McNaughton was in sizzling form as Armagh left Tyrone red-faced in this Ulster SHC Round 2 encounter at Casement Park, with the Lamh Dherg clubman's hat-trick vital, in his sides 14-point win.

Despite the Orchard County still missing their Armagh Cuchulainns contingent, including key forward Declan Coulter; Michael Johnston's charges rarely looked trouble in this game.

McNaughton fired two first half goals as Michael Johnston's charges led by 2-14 to 0-5 at half-time.

David Lavery, Cormac McHugh and Conor Grogan kept Tony Fawl's charges in touch, and the reigning Lory Meagher Cup champions staged a spirited comeback in the second-half.

Free-taker Justin Kelly slotted over his first point, within 40 seconds of the restart, however Armagh tagged on three unanswered points to open up a 17-point lead by the 43rd minute.

Armagh lost defender Nathan Curry through a second yellow card four minutes later.

Tyrone failed to give up with a brace of goals inside a four-minute spell, with Grogan and Lavery on target to cut the gap to ten points.

However, McNaughton completed his hat-trick in the 64th minute to signal the Red Hands end in this competition.

Armagh will now face local rivals Down in the quarter-final on May 29th at Casement Park.

Tyrone's next outing is a Nicky Rackard Cup opener away to Louth on Saturday June 5th.

    Armagh - J Burke; F McMullan, N Curry, P Kirk; D Carvill, P McCormack, B McCormack; B Breen 0-2, C Carvill; R Gaffney 0-1, G Enright 0-2, C Christie 0-1; P Breen 0-10 (6f, 1 65), B McNaughton 3-1, F Bradley 0-3. Subs - J Corvan for Enright (46); K McKernan for Gaffney (55); P Kirk for B McCormack (57)

    Tyrone - N McBride; M Kelly, B McGilloway, J Patton; S P Begley, D Maguire, S McCrory; J Kelly 0-1 (1f), L Moore; G Fox, C McHugh 0-1 (1sl), A Kelly; C Grogan 1-1 (0-1pen), D Lavery 1-4 (2f), P O'Connor. Subs - S McKiver 0-2 for Fox (43); M O'Gorman for M Kelly (45)

A great result, yes we were expected to win but to do it in such style.

Well done to all involved and also the 'new boys' particularly young McNaughton, imagine thse changes in personnel came about because of the loss of a number of Cuchulainn's contingent at the start of the year.

Young McNaughton from Lamh Dhearg had not even seen league action before his debut last week what a fortnight for him.

Well done to all and good luck against Down.

Maybe I'm missing something, so could someone fill me in if I am, but it seems absolutely ridiculous that the hurling isn't in Newry. Another brilliant opportunity to promote hurling in the football heartlands of both counties lost, again. It's so far out of the way up in Casement that no one outside of the hurling diehards from each counties will attend. Having the Armagh minors on the same evening hammers another nail into the chances of a football head wandering up. Why was there no attempt to promote it in the local press, maybe try to play up on the neighbourly rivalry reignited by the footballers this Spring? Having the Armagh minors on the same bill would've, at the very least, ensured that another couple of hundred football men from Armagh would've seen it anyway. Shocking lack of imagination by those charged with the promotion of hurling in Ulster.

Agree entirely AFS and then some of them have the cheek to cry about 2nd class coverage and they don't even promote the games properly
