Default All-Ireland qualifiers to find out fixture fate on Monday’s breakfast TV

All-Ireland qualifiers to find out fixture fate on Monday’s breakfast TV
    By Fintan O’Toole

    Tuesday, June 22, 2010

'THE draws for the second round of the All-Ireland football qualifiers will be televised by TV3, not in the usual Sunday evening slot, but on Monday morning.

The draw was originally meant to be shown on TV3’s Championship Live programme after the Leinster SFC semi-final between Dublin and Meath on Sunday afternoon.

But due to the fact that the second Leinster SFC semi-final between Louth and Westmeath in Croke Park is being televised live at 5.50pm on RTÉ’s The Sunday Game programme, the decision was taken to delay it until Monday morning.

The draw will take place between 8am and 8.30am on Ireland AM, and will see the eight winners of this weekend’s first-round ties being paired off against beaten provincial semi-finalists'

Seems stupid to ahve the draw on Monday morning on TV3. The teams Armagh can play are

    Westmeath
    Dublin
    Down
    Fermanagh
    Cork
    Waterford
    Leitrim
    Galway/Sligo

Dont think there are many teams there Armagh would fear, would defiently want to afford Cork and possilby stay away from Dublin or Galway, though think we could potentially beat both of those teams. Apart from that there isnt much to fear, but knowing Armaghs luck in the qualifers im preparing myself for a long trip down to Cork

Cork would beat us, so it'd be better to avoid them. Wouldn't really like Down either. With the two teams' familiarity this year, that meeting would have the potential to turn into a niggley, scrappy slugfest. A half decent, but beatable, team like Sligo (if they're beat) or Louth/ Westmeath would be ideal.

No the Galway-Sligo match is a semi-final with the winners going on to play Roscommon in the final. And round three consits of the eight winners from round 2 playing each other, and then the four winners from that round play the four beaten provincal finalists.

Someone should just start a Down v Armagh thread and be done with it. We are due a bit of luck some day in one of these draws.

I'd prefer if we got someone like Westmeath or Leitrim as they are decent teams, but not of enough quality for us to be too concerned. It would be another game for our young players to test themselves against decent opposition and for the team to develop and build more confidence.

Looking like Galway are going to be in the shake up. That draw would be interesting.

Too many interesting draws for Armagh to have. We won't get one of the weaker teams, I guarantee it.

    Would love to get Westmeath
