Derry will be no pushover this group won all before them at U16 so if they have all progressed well they will be hard to handle.
Agree with AFS, hard to call and the last game against Dublin wasn't exactly a great fillup before a championship game.

Armagh Minors 2-8 vs Derry Minors 2-7

Good win for Armagh. Derry got two goals in injury time but Armagh easily the better team on the day

    1 down, 1 to go.

    Well Done Lads!

Ulster and All-Ireland champions Armagh endured a nervy finish before edging out Derry 2-9 to 2-8 in Sunday's provincial minor opener at Celtic Park.
Paul McGeown netted direct from a 13-metre free to put Armagh 1-3 to 0-1 ahead but two Barry Seeley points cut the lead to 1-3 to 0-5 at the break.
A second McGeown goal helped extend Armagh's lead to seven points.
However, two late Aaron Devlin goals cut Armagh's lead to the minimum and Derry missed a late chance to level.
Tiernan Rafferty had the equalising opportunity but he dropped his shot into the hands of Armagh goalkeeper Matthew McNeice.

Hard to know what to make of the minor match today. Armagh looked as good as last year at times, but faded badly for long patches. We look very strong around the midfield area. Carragher is a super player, and Gough could be as good if he learns to use the ball a bit better. The forwards don't look as potent as last year's, although those lads set the bar high. Reckon if we'd had a couple of forwards of the calibre of McVerry or Grugan today we might have won by double figures. That said, Rafferty and Stevenson both look lively. Derry's two goals were very well taken, if they'd come five minutes earlier we could've been in bother. It looked like they had given up before they bagged the first one.

Agree AFS we almost got caught in the long grass at the end and yet we dominated this game for long periods. Strange feeling 7 points up and 2 mins of injury time called, yet you felt like it wasn't over, then the 2 goals and PANIC

I thought Armagh's Number 5, Dean Nugent, played a very solid game. Lokks very comfortable going forward and made some telling runs at the heart of the Derry defence. We were the better team by miles. It's good that this happened early on with these lads. That'll not happen them again.

Was impressed by Nugent too. If I remember right, last year's minors had a similar penchant for letting opponents that they were head and shoulders better than back into games by giving away soft goals, so I wouldn't share your optimism that it was a one off.
